The Book

 

The Lord pressed this endeavor upon my heart last year as I began to hear Christian women talk about authors and speakers, such as Eckhart Tolle and Marianne Williamson, who are promoted by Oprah Winfrey through her talk show, radio show, and website. I suddenly realized that women who professed to be followers of Jesus Christ were becoming followers of the New Age movement. Many women are now turning to New Age authors and media personalities for spiritual guidance instead of the Bible. These New Age teachings are in direct opposition to the Word of God. Quite a few books are written about this subject. However, I have not found any that are written specifically to a female audience by a woman. This is what prompted me to write the book.

• Manucript Status: As of today, I am working on completing the eighth chapter of the book. The book contains twelve chapters.

 

• A brief summary of the book was chosen to be featured in the September 2009 newsletter that was sent out to over 90 Christian publishers by the Writer’s Edge Service.

• I am still searching for a publisher and literary agent. As of today, I’ve been turned down by many agents because I do not have what they call a “platform.” To have a platform you must be an expert in the area you are writing about, have a speaking schedule in churches all across the nation, have some kind of web presence, or write articles for magazines. All of these things give you a platform. Starting this blog is my first step in establishing a platform.

Let Jesus Be Your Talk Show Host may seem like an unusual title. However, the title expresses God’s desire for us to live our lives based on the truth of His teachings rather than those of the world and culture around us. Many Christian women have been misled to believe that New Age spirituality is compatible with what is taught in the Bible. This is far from the truth. In fact, New Age teaching is in direct opposition to the Word of God.

Let Jesus Be Your Talk Show Host aims to equip the reader with the spiritual tools necessary to recognize incorrect biblical teaching. A very basic overview of Christian doctrine and New Age thought will be explained so she will be able to refute and identify false teaching. At the completion of this book, the reader will have built a firmer foundation in her Christian faith.

The goal of this manuscript is to be very practical and applicable to a Christian woman’s everyday life. Each chapter applies the material not only to the identification of false teaching, but also to the reader’s relationship with God. Discussion questions will be included at the end of each chapter so it can be used in a small group setting. This manuscript is different from any other book on the topic of New Age spirituality, because it is written specifically for a female audience and aims to make the subject matter understandable at any level.
